Aggregates — Application of the Test Method for Characterization the Sulphatic Swelling Potential of Granular Materials

This document provides information, sets out requirements and makes recommendations regarding the use and interpretation of the results of the test method described in standard BNQ 2560-500. It also sets out requirements and makes recommendations regarding the characterization of the sulphate swelling potential of granular materials at a production site (DB materials).

As well, it discusses procedures for managing technical and administrative records when aggregates are characterized, delivered to the construction site and taken possession of by the building owner. The information is for aggregate producers, truckers, contractors, home warranty plan administrators, do-it-yourself homebuilders, mortgage lenders and other players in industry sectors affected by the risks of using aggregates with a sulphate swelling potential.
